
Market on Tuesday: Sensex fell 850 points due to trump tariff pressure, Nifty fell by one per cent to close to 24,700
On August 26, the benchmark index closed near the lowest level of the day. Largecap shares were sold by US President Trump from August 27 due to concerns over the order to implement 25 percent additional tariffs on Indian imports. Due to this, the Nifty slipped below 24,700 in Nifty Intrade.
At the end of the trading session, thessEx fell 849.37 points or 1.04 percent to close at 80,786.54 and the Nifty closed at 24,712.05 with 255.70 points or 1.02 percent. The BSE Midcap index was 1.3 percent and the smallcap index 1.7 percent.
The stock market was closed on 27 August on the occasion of Ganesh Chaturthi.
The biggest decline in Nifty was in the shares of Shriram Finance, Sun Pharma, Tata Steel, Bajaj Finance, Trent. While the edge shares included Eicher Motors, HUL, Maruti Suzuki, Nestle India and ITC.
Except for FMCG, all other sectoral were locked in red mark. In which PSU bank, metal, pharma, oil and gas, consumer durables, realty and telecom saw a weakness of 1-2 percent.
