
Stock in focus: Government rail company RailTel Corporation of India Limited said on Monday that it has received several orders worth about Rs 396 crore from Bihar Education Project Council. These include information and communication technology (ICT) labs, Integrated Science and Mathematics (ISM) Labs, Smart Classroom and Teaching Material Supply.
Under the contracts, installation of ICT and ISM labs, teaching-learning material supply for classes 1 to 5 and installing smart classrooms in middle, secondary and senior secondary schools across the state. Their deadline is between December 2025 to March 2026.
Order book of railTel
In a conversation with CNBC-TV18 in August, Chairman and Managing Director Sanjay Kumar said that RailTel’s telecom business will grow at a rate of 8–9% every year, but the project-based expansion for the company will be the primary driver.
He said, ‘We have won new orders of about Rs 1,400 crore during this period and our total order book has now crossed Rs 7,200 crore.’

Quartel’s quarterly results
RailTel Corporation of India Limited has recorded a strong performance in the June quarter. The company’s net profit rose by 36% to Rs 66 crore, while it was Rs 49 crore in the same quarter last year. Revenue from the operation was also Rs 744 crore with a growth of 33%, which was Rs 558 crore a year ago.
However, on a quarterly basis, the company’s profit remained under pressure and it fell 42% to Rs 113 crore to Rs 66 crore.
